About

The E.L.B.O.W. club was founded on 21st March 1991 by Joyce Francis. Joyce wanted to start a club in the Dordrecht area where people could be themselves and have conversations in English without having to think about finding the right words all the time.

Our aim is to provide friendship and support, for women of all ages and all walks of life in an informal, relaxed atmosphere, all having English as their mother tongue.

All our members find themselves living in the Netherlands for one reason or another and we therefore all understand the challenges of dealing with a new culture, new language and new surroundings. By sharing our experiences we can help newcomers adjust to their new life in the Netherlands and for members who have been here longer try to be the family that they left behind in their home country.

Membership is currently €30.00 per year.
 
This includes:

• Entry to monthly meetings.
• Entry to outings, although costs incurred are not included.
• Entry to the various sub clubs.
• Entry to Annual Ladies Dinner and Christmas Dinner (costs of the dinner are not included).
• A monthly Newsletter.
